Parents, Families, & Guests
Orientation & Transition Experiences (OTE) is here to support you and your student's transition to the U of M. Our Parent Orientation Resources page provides a solid introduction to the University’s departments integral in a student's transition, as well as the academic expectations of the University.
The University sees parents and families as partners in supporting a student from transition to the University through graduation. OTE works closely with the Parent and Family Programs office which was created to connect you with University and it’s resources and services. Parent and Family Programs will be your point of contact with the University after your student has attended New Student Orientation.
OTE will continue to support your student’s transition through Welcome Week and into the next year as they start their U of M journey!
The OTE office will be holding New Gopher Chats for incoming students and family members from 6-7 pm CST on the dates listed below. Please bring any questions you may have about the New Student Checklist, Orientation, Welcome Week, or the U to these live events. There will be a chat function enabled, which will allow your questions to come in and be answered in real time by a professional in the OTE office. New Gopher Chats: April 1, April 8, April 21, May 12, May 29.
