Required Immunizations, Insurance, & Courses
Immunizations
Minnesota law requires all University of Minnesota students to report certain immunizations. Failure to complete this before the 6th week of the semester may result in a registration hold on your account. Information about the immunizations required and how to report your immunizations is available from the Boynton Health website.
Health Insurance
All students who are 1) admitted to a degree program and 2) registered for six or more credits per semester that count toward the automatic assessment of the Student Services Fee are required by the University of Minnesota to have health insurance.
Eligible students are automatically enrolled in and billed for the University-sponsored Student Health Benefit Plan (SHBP) unless they use the online Health Coverage Declaration to waive coverage. Learn more about the waiver.
To learn more about this policy and the University plan, visit the Office of Student Health Benefits or contact them at [email protected] or 612-624-0627.
Attention International Students
The University of Minnesota requires all international students and their dependents to enroll in the University-sponsored Student Health Benefit Plan unless they are eligible for a waiver. To be eligible for a waiver as an International Student, you must be covered by a United States-based employer-sponsored group health plan or the University-sponsored Graduate Assistant Health Plan. You can learn more about this policy and the University plan, or contact the Office of Student Health Benefits at [email protected] or 612-624-0627.
Required Online Courses
All incoming undergraduate first-year and transfer students are required to complete three online trainings related to sexual violence prevention, alcohol and other drug awareness, and the Gopher Equity Project.
