Commuter Success Program Lead

The Commuter Success Program Lead is responsible for developing a sense of community for a commuter "pod" (group of 10-15 first year students) and hosting weekly programming for CSP students. The goal of these programming is to build community and discuss student success topics. Commuter leads should be welcoming and inclusive in how they interact and build relationships with students.

Responsibilities

  • Host a weekly programming at various campus locations
  • Facilitate shared discussions based on topics and transition support, provided by CSP Intern, during weekly programming
  • Provide outreach to students in your pod (10-15 students) to build community, offer student experiences and general transition support
  • Track student attendance and participation at programming through reports and/or feedback. Follow-up with students who have not been participating to check-in
  • Report student attendance to Commuter Success Program Intern
  • Assist CSP Intern with planning and organizing social engagement events

Qualifications

Required

  • Student employees must be at least 18 years old to work for Orientation & Transition Experiences.
  • Current University of Minnesota student enrolled in at least 13 credits or more for the academic year 2026- 2027 
  • Familiarity with undergraduate commuter student transition issues at the University of Minnesota
  • Desire to serve new students in helping them transition to the University
  • Strong organizational, administrative, communication, customer service and leadership skills
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.3 to be maintained throughout employment and reviewed each semester
  • Live in off campus housing through Spring 2027
  • Must be available for in-person training in late August

Compensation and Hours

This position is paid at an hourly rate of $15.25/hour with an average of 5-7 hours/week during the academic year. 1-2 weekly meals are included based on your weekly programming.
