One of the most important parts of having a successful undergraduate experience (and building your resume) is getting involved on campus. Check out some of the following resources to help you get involved outside of the classroom this year:

• Want to learn more about yourself and become a changemaker for social justice? Sign up for the Social Justice Leadership Certificate program at [email protected]

It is a fresh start to your second year and classes are back in session! Staying organized is a huge part of learning to manage your time. The better you can manage your time, the more successful you will be!

• Looking for sites to help you get organized? The Assignment Calculator, Asana, Evernote, and Trello are all great options!
• Discover how to use UMN Google Apps to become more productive both inside and outside the classroom!
• Tutoring and Academic Success Center (TASC) offers tutoring to help students get individualized attention with the courses they want to better understand.
• Want to be successful in your classes? Take a look at success.umn.edu to find out about available support services.
• The new Effective U website offers online tools to help you manage your personal and academic well-being.

Each year the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) provides stipends to students to do research on a topic they are interested in. If you have ever seen yourself working on a research project with a faculty mentor, this is the program for you! UROP is open to all majors, and it’s not hard to apply!

Visit the UROP website, to find out which forms you need and how to write a proposal.

• Reflect on why you are here and identify your goals for the year.

• Create your resume, or update it with your recent summer experience.
• Register on Handshake where many organizations are registered and looking to recruit talent.

• Attend career fairs to explore organizations and talk to employers for next summer’s internships. Start as early as this month for specific industries.
