Second Year Celebration Week is designed to celebrate students nearing completion of their second year at the University of Minnesota. There are several opportunities to win fun giveaways while exploring events and resources designed just for second-year students!
Second Year Celebration Prize Drawings
Throughout the week, you can earn entries into drawing by coming to events or interacting with us on our Instagram @oteumn. You can get one entry for each event you attend for a total of 5 event entries.
- $100 Bookstore Shopping Spree (excludes electronics)
- Classic Diploma Frame (valued at $192)
Use the schedule below to find the links and specific times for each of the events and activities. When you attend an event make sure to scan the QR code and fill out the survey to earn your entry! Each survey will close an hour after the event.
We will also post questions and polls for students. Answering these will get you an entry into our Instagram gift card drawing. So make sure to follow us on our Instagram @oteumn.

Monday, April 18
- Second Year Sweets, CMU Front Plaza, 3-4:30 p.m.
Come to our kick-off event at CMU Front Plaza to enjoy some brownies and meet other second years. We will also encourage you to share a “sweet” moment from your second year by replying to our Instagram post that day.
Tuesday, April 19
- Rollerskate into Spring, 4:45-8 p.m.

Wednesday, April 20
- Where's Goldy?, West Bank & Pedestrian Bridge, 4-6 p.m
Join us in finding Goldy on the West Bank and Pedestrian Bridge. Find hints of our location on our Instagram (@oteumn). Once you find us, you will receive another entry into the prize drawing. Be on the lookout!
Thursday, April 21
- Grow and Glow, CMU Front Plaza, 3:30-5 p.m.
You’ve developed your roots at the U of M over the past two years and now it's time to celebrate as we “grow and glow”. Share a moment of growth from your second year by replying to our Instagram post for that day and join us in-person to decorate a flower pot and plant a seed.
Friday, April 2
- Where's Goldy?, East Bank, Noon-2 p.m.
Join us again finding Goldy, but this time on the East Bank. Find hints of our location on our Instagram @oteumn. Once you find us, you will receive another entry into the prize drawing. Be on the lookout!
- CAPE Drop-ins: 511 Bruininks
Attend drop-in hours to meet with one of our Peer Coaches for about 15-minutes to start the major exploration process. See the CAPE website for drop-in hours.
- CAPE Major Network
The Major Network is a University of Minnesota cross-college network that connects exploring students with upperclass-students who are passionate about their majors.
