At the semester break and the end of the first year, the Office of Undergraduate Education conducts a survey of first year students who leave the university after one semester or one year. The results of the survey are then used to identify the demographics of students who leave as well as any reoccurring issues or trends. The results are used to update the university’s messages to students as well as enhance future program content in an effort to retain future students at the University of Minnesota.
