Welcome Week Program Leader

Program Leaders are responsible for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment during Welcome Week, which focuses on providing a quality transitional experience for new students. Program Leaders are responsible for preparing and staffing events during Welcome Week with significant responsibility for supporting program logistics and ensuring new students have a smooth and successful Welcome Week experience.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Welcome Week Training from August 23-26 approximately 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily 
  • Provide programmatic support to the Welcome Week Programs as needed August 26 - September 5 
  • Support the attendance/check-in process at Welcome Week events
  • Support event set-ups as needed
  • Help new students navigate campus and events during Welcome Week
  • Must be available minimum of 25 hours per week between August 23 - September 5

This role is different from the Welcome Week Leader role. Program Leaders will support event logistics, while Welcome Week Leaders will escort their small groups to events and host small group meetings

This position reports to Sam Glazer Hewson (Associate Director, Student Transition Experiences), Olivia Knodel (Assistant Director, Student Transition Programs & Special Populations), Maisie Sweeney (Welcome Week Intern), and Orientation & Transition Experiences Professional Staff

 

Position Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.3 or higher 
  • Enrolled full time (13 credits) as a student through Fall 2022 semester
  • Not planning to study abroad before September 6, 2022 and will not graduate prior to December 2022
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Demonstrated awareness of self and others 
  • Ability to think critically and be adaptable to situations 
  • Ability to work independently 

Preferred Position Qualifications

  • Prior campus leadership experience
  • Strong organizational, administrative, customer service, and leadership skills including the ability to effectively communicate
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality work along a specific set of deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a team and with supervisors 
  • Self-motivated and possesses a desire to work in a flexible team and focused atmosphere

Important Dates & Schedule

This role takes place from Monday, August 23 - Monday, September 5.

Monday, August 23-Thursday, August 25: OL/PL Welcome Week Training               

Friday, August 26-Tuesday, August 30: WWL Prep Weekend

Wednesday, August 31-Monday, September 5: Welcome Week & Welcome Week Transfer Track

Please keep in mind that you will be scheduled for varying lengths of shifts during the dates of the role, which may include split shifts on a single day. This position will work minimally 25 hours per week and may work up to 40 hours per week. Some meals will be provided when working.

Compensation

Program Leaders will be paid $12.50 per hour including all training and assigned shifts.
