January Orientation & Welcome Day

January 2025 Orientation is just around the corner and we are excited to welcome you to the University of Minnesota!

Important: 

Your New Student Checklist will be emailed on November 13, 2024. If you enroll after that date, you will receive the email in three to five business days.

January Orientation is a one-day program held in person at Coffman Memorial Union on the U of M campus. Some remote Orientation dates are available depending on your college and major.

Check-in

Check-in for Orientation will take place from 8 - 9:30 a.m. on the ground floor of CMU. Parking will be available in the East River Road Garage.

Directions

Whether you're driving to campus or arriving via public transit, we have resources to help you find your way to the U of M campus.

Parking

Reduced-rate parking is available in the East River Road Garage, located at 385 East River Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55455. You will be emailed a voucher to use for the reduced-rate.

What to bring

When you check in for Orientation you will receive some program materials. We also recommend that you bring:

  • Your driver's license or government-issued ID
  • Credit or debit card for parking
  • Notebook and pen or pencil
  • Comfortable clothing and shoes

 

January Orientation Welcome Day

January Welcome Day is held the first week of classes, and is the official welcome event for new students. This is an excellent opportunity to start settling in at the U of M. During Welcome Day, you’ll connect with other students, meet professional staff, learn about campus resources, enjoy refreshments, and get answers to any last-minute questions. There will also be chances to win prizes, and everyone will receive some sweet U of M swag! Free parking is available for new students.
