Summer 2020 orientation programming is functioning in a remote format, with a Canvas online orientation followed by virtual orientation occurring on the student’s selected orientation date (via the Zoom platform). This format is applied to both freshman and transfer New Student Orientation programs. The OTE office continues to engage with campus officials and partners on the consideration of program delivery, community building for incoming students, and enhancement of both online and virtual content. On June 15, all incoming undergraduate students received an email from Robert McMaster, Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education, outlining details for beginning your academic career as it relates to updates to the University's fall 2020 plans.
Below are questions you might be wondering as they relate to your transition to the University of Minnesota. You might have other questions about your student experience that are not answered below. The Office of Undergraduate Education's Covid-19 Undergraduate Support website contains resources relating to academics, housing, health, and your student experience. The University hosted a Virtual Town Hall on Tuesday, June 23 regarding the fall semester, highlights from the Town Hall can be found here.

Your scheduled orientation date will not change. Incoming students who have not yet completed orientation will register during their scheduled Orientation date.
If you have not yet scheduled your Orientation, make sure to do so by completing your New Student Checklist.
If you have already attended Orientation and registered for classes, the University will follow up with guidance if changes are needed to your class schedule.
Welcome Week is now Weeks of Welcome! Weeks of Welcome (WoW) is a multi-week program leading to the first day of class for the Class of 2024 and new transfer students. It is an extension of our traditional Welcome Week program that all first-year students participate in. The program has been developed in response to COVID-19 and is designed to help students have a successful transition to the U.
You will receive more information about Weeks of Welcome later this summer.
